Minister of Electricity, Ziad Fadhel Ali, confirmed today, Thursday, the government's keenness to activate memoranda of understanding and enhance cooperation with Turkish companies.
The media office of the Minister of Electricity stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Minister of Electricity Ziyad Fadhil Ali chaired a joint meeting between the Iraqi and Turkish sides to discuss ways to activate the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries in the field of energy."
The statement added that "the meeting was attended by the Iraqi side by the advanced staff of the Ministry of Electricity and the head and members of the Memorandum of Understanding Follow-up Committee, while the Turkish side was represented by a high-level delegation that included the head and members of the Turkish Contractors Union, in addition to the commercial attaché at the Turkish Embassy in Baghdad."
It explained that "the head of the committee to follow up on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding with the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources reviewed the measures taken to activate the memorandum, providing a comprehensive explanation of the axes of the working paper prepared by the committee for the areas of cooperation and approved by the minister."
The Minister of Electricity stressed after welcoming the visiting delegation - according to the statement - that " Al-Sudani's government is keen to activate the memoranda of understanding and enhance cooperation with Turkish companies specialized in the field of electricity."
For his part, the head of the Turkish delegation gave a comprehensive presentation on the nature of the work of The Turkish Contractors Union, reviewing the volume of work carried out globally, including Iraq, by companies under the umbrella of the union, especially in the energy sector. The statement indicated that "during the meeting, invitations were extended to specialized Turkish companies to contribute to the announced opportunities related to the smart transformation in the electrical power distribution networks in Iraq."
