The Olympic Committee announced today, Monday, that the Iraqi Kickboxing team won (28) colored medals in Asian Championship that concluded in the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, with the participation of (20) continental teams.
The head of the Iraqi Kickboxing Federation, Qasim Al-Wasiti, said in a statement by the Olympic Committee received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The (28) medals that Iraq achieved came in the amount of seven gold medals, ten silver medals, and eleven bronze medals."
He added, "Our players presented a wonderful and distinguished performance through which they competed with the Asian champions, and were able to win (28) colored medals during the days of the continental championship."
He continued, "The head of the International Kickboxing Federation, Roy Baker, greatly praised the distinguished level presented by our players in the Asian Championship."
Al-Wasiti concluded, "This achievement will be added to the series of great achievements made by Iraqi sports in general, and kickboxing in particular."
