The Lebanese government expressed its thanks to Iraq today, Wednesday, for the humanitarian and food relief, while praising the initiatives directed by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to facilitate the entry procedures for Lebanese people into Iraqi territory.
The Iraqi Ministry of Trade said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "Minister of Trade Athir Dawood Al-Ghurairi received a phone call from his Lebanese counterpart, Amin Salam, to thank the Iraqi government and people at the public and private levels and their initiatives to launch relief campaigns that included food, humanitarian supplies and fuel that were sent to Lebanon."
"The Lebanese Minister praised the initiatives directed by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to facilitate the entry procedures for Lebanese into Iraqi territory and other facilities provided by Iraqi ministries," noting that "Baghdad's diplomatic and humanitarian efforts were discussed to support Lebanon politically in the ceasefire process, in addition to discussing ways to support Lebanon in terms of relief and economy in local meetings and international and regional forums, especially with the fear that the new field events will expand around the clock to include a sea, air and land blockade after the bombing of the Beirut-Damascus international road."
The two parties stressed according to the statement "keeping communication channels open in these difficult circumstances."
