The President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faeq Zidane, announced today, Wednesday, the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Russian Public Prosecutor to enhance cooperation tomorrow, Thursday.
Zidane told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We received an invitation from the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation to learn about the judicial and legal system in Russia, and this invitation was accepted," indicating that "this is the first visit of an Iraqi judicial delegation to the judiciary in Russia."
He added, "Tomorrow, a memorandum of legal and judicial cooperation will be signed with the Russian Attorney General to enhance judicial and legal cooperation between the two countries," noting that "we have extended an invitation to our counterparts in the Russian judiciary to visit Baghdad and learn about the judicial system in Iraq."
The head of the Judicial Supervision Authority in the Supreme Judicial Council, Laith Jabr, confirmed to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "Our visit to Moscow aims to meet our counterparts in the Judicial Council in the Russian judiciary to discuss and strengthen judicial relations between the two countries."
He added, "The memorandum of understanding that will be signed tomorrow also includes strengthening judicial relations and exchanging expertise and scientific and judicial visits between the two countries."
