Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani confirmed on Wednesday that the projects to eliminate the traffic congestion are necessary in Baghdad, pointing out that the project of the bridges of Aden and Sana'a is the eighth project completed within the package of projects to end traffic jams.
The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Prime Minister inaugurated the intersection of the Aden and Sana'a squares in Kadhimiya, as part of the first package of projects to end traffic jams in the capital, Baghdad, in the presence of the Minister of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, and the Mayor of Baghdad."
The statement added that "the opening ceremony witnessed the raising of the Iraqi flag on a 44-meter-long mast below the bridges, with the playing of the national anthem performed by students of the Faculty of Fine Arts."
The Prime Minister stressed, according to the statement, that "the Aden and Sana'a bridges project is the eighth project completed within the package of projects to end traffic jams, appreciating the efforts made in implementation, and the role of the Iraqi company executing with high specifications, and with accurate details that were approved for the first time."
He pointed to "the importance of the two bridges project, which was implemented in an area witnessing a state of overcrowding, and a great momentum in the movement of transport, expressing his thanks to the people of Baghdad who endured the suffering of alternative roads, especially since the projects are implemented in crowded places, and there are many conflicts," explaining "the credibility of the government that it has proven through the implementation of service projects, and addressing projects that have been stalled for years despite the difficulty and accuracy of their implementation, some of which date back to 2005."
He stressed that "projects to end traffic jams are necessary in Baghdad, stressing that each province has priorities in projects, provinces such as Babylon, Diwaniyah or Muthanna have priority for infrastructure projects, while the priority in Baghdad was for projects to end traffic congestion, and the real suffering they cause to citizens, and 8 projects have been implemented out of 19 projects, they will be completed soon according to the specified technical specifications.
