Around 90 men and women, aged between 49 and 97, tested positive for ST283 strain of potentially deadly Group B Streptococcus infection, and 4 cases died.

Patients suffering from a potentially deadly bacterial infection have tested positive for a strain linked to contact with raw freshwater fish, bringing the most recent cluster in Hong Kong to 91 cases.

The Center for Health Protection said that it had concluded testing and analysis on freshwater fish and environmental samples collected from markets and fishponds, and "no new specimens tested positive for ST283, or serotype III sequence type 283, of the invasive Group B Streptococcus infection."

The Center said hospital surveillance data in the past two weeks showed the overall daily number of hospitalized patients infected with the bacteria remained stable.
