The Ministry of Oil's Oil Products Distribution Company declared on Wednesday that 800 million liters of gas oil were strategically stored this year, mentioning the creation of a plan to export jet fuel made at the Karbala refinery.

Hussein Talib, the director general of the Oil Products Distribution Company, stated to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "power stations that run on Iranian gas will be operated based on gas oil products," adding that "there is a plan to export the surplus of white oil and gas oil."

He continued, saying that "electric power plants reached the consumption of 12 million liters per day of production in refineries and refinery capacities and built from a strategic storage during 2024." "The strategic storage, which reached about 800 million liters during this year, contributed to crossing the summer season and the situation is now under control," he said.

"There is a plan to export jet fuel, which is produced from the Karbala refinery because it meets marketing specifications," he continued. "In the near future, there will be export shipments of surplus gas oil," he added, adding that "there will be one million cubic meters of strategic storage of gas oil product and what is overflowing for export purposes according to the directives of the Prime Minister and his deputy Minister of Oil."

He emphasized that "the ministry has stopped importing gas oil (kerosene) and white oil and achieved self-sufficiency in their production."
