The Ministry of Migration and Displaced –MOMD announced on Tuesday, that approximately 54,000 displaced individuals are currently residing in Al-Hol camp, including 20,000 Iraqis, while confirming the return of 4,000 Iraqis from this camp.
Kareem Al-Nouri, Deputy Minister of Migration and Displaced, stated to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Al-Hol camp, located in northeastern Syria, is about 13 kilometers from Iraq in Al-Hasakah region and currently hosts around 54,000 displaced individuals from various nationalities, including 20,000 Iraqis who fled from conflict zones in Baghouz and Deir ez-Zor."
He pointed out that "Iraqi IDPs differ from those coming from Europe, Africa, and Asia, as the latter arrived in those countries for the purpose of fighting, not for tourism, while many of the displaced from Iraq are innocent and should not be held accountable for the actions of others."
Al-Nouri added that "the Iraqi government has initiated a rehabilitation process for returning IDPs following comprehensive security checks," noting that "all those who returned from the camp have not recorded any security violations in their areas."
He highlighted that "around 4,000 Iraqis have indeed returned, while approximately 15,000 remain in the camp," emphasizing that "individuals with security files or those proved guilty cannot return to Iraq."
