Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed today, Friday, that Iraq occupies a prestigious position and played a role in resuming our relations with Saudi Arabia.
"The Iranian government's policy is based on further strengthening relations with its neighbors, and just as Iraq occupies a prestigious position, Saudi Arabia also has a prestigious position," Araghchi said in statements followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He continued, "We had issues in the past, and with the help of Iraq and then China, bilateral relations were resumed, and these relations have been expanding at a good speed in recent years," noting that "Saudi Arabia is a large and powerful country in the region, and there must be a good relationship and broad cooperation between Iran and Saudi Arabia, and this issue constitutes a need for peace and stability in the region."
He added, "Saudi Arabia, like Iraq, occupies a prestigious position in Iran's neighborhood policy."
