The Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadhil, confirmed, on Monday, that the launch of the executive work of three projects for Combined Cycle by PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani last Saturday confirms the government's seriousness in investing in the electricity sector to increase production, as strengthening the system will provide the state $3 billion annually.

"The projects of the Combined Cycle are one of the government program projects that the ministry has tended to implement since we received the responsibility to develop real, serious, and effective steps to add 4000 megawatts to the electrical system in various Iraqi provinces. These projects confirm the government's seriousness in continuing to invest in the electricity sector to increase production," said Fadhil to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

He noted, "We started from Basra, then Baghdad, Diyala and Anbar, passing through Najaf, Karbala and Al -Diwaniyah, as well as the rest of the governorates. We exceeded the contract and discussions stage, and we launched a week after the last new projects."

"The projects of the Combined Cycle invest the temperature emitted from the stations in the generation of energy and require in their implementation 24 months, that is two years. It is hoped that it will produce 4000 megawatts per day. It does not work with fuel, it will save $3 billion annually and contribute to the support of the national network system," he highlighted.

Earlier, PM Al-Sudani launched the executive work in 3 projects for the Combined Cycle in the electricity sector in the governorates of Baghdad, Diyala and Anbar.
