The Supreme Committee for Securing the Million-Person Pilgrimages announced on Monday that the number of pilgrims in Najaf exceeds previous years, while noting that no security breach was recorded in Najaf.

The spokesman for the committee, Brigadier General Miqdad Miri, said in a video clip, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The security services implemented four days ago a very large plan in the province of Najaf to commemorate the death of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), under the direct supervision of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, and the head of the Supreme Security Committee and Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shammari attended the field to the province of Najaf."

"The number of pilgrims this year exceeds previous years, as the movement towards Najaf has not been interrupted over the past four days, through three axes: the Karbala axis – Najaf, the Diwaniyah – Najaf axis, and the Bab al-Najaf axis," he said.

He pointed out that "all axes recorded at this moment a decrease in the entry process and we are in the final stages of this plan," stressing "no security breaches were recorded throughout the province of Najaf and in the sectors of responsibility."

"The security plan will continue until this evening, and security efforts will continue until the last pilgrim leaves the province," he said.
He pointed out that "there is a movement for the entry of pilgrims through air and land ports from Arab and foreign countries to the province of Najaf."

"There are great efforts made by the Ministry of Transport, the Hajj and Umrah Authority, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Defence and the Popular Mobilisation Forces in the reverse voyage operation, which is now in its highest stages to exit pilgrims from Najaf province towards their provinces or towards border crossings," he said.
