Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani followed up, today, Sunday, with the global software company SAP, the digital transformation map in Iraq.

The Prime Minister's media office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met today with representatives from SAP, a global leader in software solutions, to discuss an executive summary provided by the company outlining a roadmap for digital transformation in Iraq.”

During the meeting, Prime Minister Al-Sudani highlighted that Iraq had suffered through decades of wars and sanctions, leading to a disconnect from the global technological advancements during a critical period of digital evolution. This situation has driven the government to focus intently on digital transformation across all state levels. A high-level committee has been formed under his chairmanship, including relevant ministers and heads of government authorities, to prioritize efforts that will enable the country to make significant strides in this area.
The government has also begun a comprehensive review of what has been achieved so far to strengthen and build upon successful initiatives.

The roadmap proposed by SAP aims to enhance governance, drive economic growth, and improve public services through strategic implementation of digital technologies. It includes a general assessment of the country's digital infrastructure and workforce skills, strategic planning in critical sectors like healthcare and education, and collaboration with the government to address various challenges.
The roadmap also focuses on bolstering cybersecurity measures and raising digital awareness across all age groups.

SAP’s solutions are expected to streamline processes, enhance citizen engagement, and increase transparency in sectors such as infrastructure and transportation. Additionally, these initiatives will support smart city projects, create jobs, and improve public services, ensuring digital inclusion for all citizens.
