The Supreme Youth Council revealed on Saturday, a series of measures aimed at supporting anti-corruption efforts.
Qasem Al-Thalmi, the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Youth Affairs and a member of the Supreme Youth Council, stated during a speech at the Youth and Integrity Forum, attended by a correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "we are pleased to convey the greetings of the Prime Minister and to participate today in the Youth Conference, which represents the Iraqi government’s interest in this important segment of society. Highlighting their activities and achievements is one of the most important steps to widely utilize opportunities and address challenges in pursuit of national interests."
He added that "combating corruption, raising youth awareness about its risks, and fostering a culture of integrity are key government priorities. Youth are central to shaping the future, and their participation in the anti-corruption conference is a valuable opportunity to develop skills in integrity, transparency, and leadership. This involvement will enhance their technical and social knowledge, and contribute positively to anti-corruption efforts and society as a whole."
Al-Thalmi continued: "We are honored to mention that the Supreme Youth Council has taken several steps to strengthen the national spirit among youth, including the establishment of the 'Youth Eye' platform, which acts as a monitoring tool to identify negative societal issues such as bribery and administrative and financial corruption. It operates in coordination with the Integrity Commission and develops programs put forth by civil society organizations in the national youth program competition aimed at educating youth about the risks of administrative and financial corruption and deepening the culture of integrity. We are confident that such conferences contribute to finding ways and means to engage youth not only in combating corruption but also in becoming ambassadors for their countries, upholding the banner of ongoing transparency and accountability as future leaders."
He called for "unifying and coordinating efforts to promote integrity and combat corruption, which form a comprehensive legal framework capable of supporting the government in taking measures to address this phenomenon. The government’s laws and enforcement tools are starting to show results across all state institutions."
