The local government in Salah al-Din sponsored, today, Thursday, a meeting with the United Nations Investigation Team into the Crimes of ISIS Terrorist Gangs (UNITAD), which reviewed a report on the crimes of the organization and documented the most important stations in fighting it and expelling it from the province.

The media office of the governor of Salah al-Din received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "the meeting was chaired by the head of the second field investigation unit in the team, Kanga Tibori, in the presence of the representative of the governor of Salah al-Din, the administrative deputy Hashem Azawi, along with a number of tribal sheikhs and dignitaries and directors of administrative units in these districts, where strengthening accountability for crimes committed by the terrorist ISIS in the districts of Tikrit, Al-Alam, Al-Duluiya, and Al-Dour were discussed."

The statement added that "the meeting concluded in a special report on ISIS crimes, after efforts that lasted for 12 months of scrutiny, visits, and listening to testimonies and documents from the security, judicial, and administrative agencies, concluding that ISIS terrorist gangs committed crimes against humanity against the people of the governorate, as they violated the laws and customs followed in wars and armed conflicts and committed war crimes that included forced detention, torture, killing, and destruction of cultural property and civilian targets."

The statement explained that "the report documented the terrorist ISIS's detention of hundreds of people from Tikrit, Al-Alam, Al-Dour and others, in addition to its execution of hundreds of civilians and its systematic targeting of security forces. The report also discussed in detail the Speicher massacre, revealing that terrorist elements from various members of the organization and from different cities executed dozens of members of the security forces after they took control of the center of Tikrit Governorate," noting "the large displacement witnessed by the city fleeing the brutality and cruelty of the terrorist ISIS."

The report praised "the heroic positions of the cities of Al-Alam and Al-Duluiya in confronting the terrorist elements, as well as the role of the people of Al-Alam and Tikrit in rescuing hundreds of members of the security forces, students of Tikrit University and state employees and ensuring their safe exit in June 2014."

The statement continued, "It is expected that the full report will be published on the team's websites next week, as the team will officially conclude its work on September 17, 2024. The investigation covered crimes committed during the period from June 11, 2014 to March 31, 2015."
