Al-Araji encourages countries to return their citizens from Al-Hawl camp

    INA - BAGHDAD

    National Security Adviser Qasim Al-Araji called on Monday to encourage countries to bring back their citizens from Al-Hawl camp and dismantle it.

    Al-Araji met in Brussels with the head of the Coordination Body for Threat Analysis - OCAM, Kurt Vercauteren, according to a statement by the media office of the National Security Adviser - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    They discussed the work of OCAM and mechanisms for joint cooperation with Iraqi authorities, in addition to discussing strategies for combating violent extremism leading to terrorism and the file of the Syrian Al-Hawl camp as well as the efforts of the Iraqi government to return and rehabilitate families.

    Al-Araji appreciated "the efforts of the Belgian government in its initiative to bring back its citizens from Al-Hawl camp," encouraging "the rest of the countries to bring back their citizens and dismantle the camp, due to the real danger it poses to the region and the world."
