The Maysan Criminal Court issued a two-year prison sentence today, Wednesday, against the director of the Al-Shaib border crossing.
The Judicial Council stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the court issued its ruling against the convict for taking a bribe in exchange for the entry of goods and commodities, as he works as the director of the Al-Shaib border crossing, where he was caught red-handed with sums of money in his possession."
The statement added that "the ruling was issued based on the provisions of Resolution 160 / Second / 1 of 1983, as amended, and based on the text of Article 132 / 3 of the Iraqi Penal Code."
