Baghdad – INA
Transport Minister Razzaq Mohibis Al-Saadawi announced on Saturday, the commencement of 12 significant projects at Baghdad International Airport, marking a major step forward in the airport’s development.
In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Saadawi highlighted that the decision to open the airport to travelers, as directed by Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani, has been implemented with the opening of six dedicated lanes for Iraqi passengers. This move follows the establishment of a comprehensive security plan by the High Committee for Airport Security.
The Minister emphasized that the reopening aims to streamline and enhance the passenger experience. He elaborated that these efforts are part of a broader initiative involving 12 projects planned for execution at the airport soon, including new vehicle management protocols overseen by the Baghdad International Airport General Company.
The Minister also noted that the reopening excludes cargo vehicles, motorcycles, and vehicles failing to meet safety standards. Additionally, new public transportation lines within the airport have been introduced.
This development follows the official reopening of Baghdad International Airport to full passenger traffic, as announced by the Transport Minister earlier today.
