The Iraqi Media Network celebrated the ninth anniversary of the founding of Al Iraqiya News Channel in the presence of the Chairman of the Iraqi Media Network, Karim Hammadi, the Chairman and members of the Board of Trustees, the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Cultural Affairs, Aref Al-Saadi, the Head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, Mu’ayyad Al-Lami, and a number of figures.

The head of the Iraqi Media Network, Karim Hammadi, said in a speech at the ceremony attended by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “We congratulate our colleagues working at Al Iraqiya News Channel on the occasion of the ninth anniversary of the founding of Al Iraqiya News Channel,” noting that “the founding of Al Iraqiya News Channel coincided with the liberation operations from terrorism and all the ramifications that the country suffered from.”

He added, "We must repay the debt to all the workers in all the joints of this channel who have provided and spared no effort in providing all that is required in terms of comprehensive news coverage of all the events that occur in the country," stressing that "the Iraqi Media Network has provided a group of martyrs and wounded from the media professionals and heroic journalists to convey the word in sound and image in a real and unfalsified manner."

He continued, "All the network's directorates are working out of keenness and diligent work to show the true face of events to the public," expressing his deep thanks to "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and the Presidency of the Council of Representatives for the support and assistance to the Iraqi Media Network in all its various components."

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Thaer Al-Ghanmi, said: “Al-Iraqiya News Channel was able, in a short and record period, to become a shining star in the field of excellence and creativity, thanks to the efforts of its employees, especially those behind the scenes who did not appear on the screen and were not known to people.”

He added: "Iraqiya News Channel has managed to reserve a prestigious place for us among all other channels and to be an official media platform to be emulated," noting that "the Board of Trustees of the Iraqi Media Network, since its first inception, has set plans to develop all of the network's channels, not just Iraqiya News Channel, and what it needs in terms of support, assistance, and overcoming obstacles, if any."

The head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, Mu'ayyad al-Lami, said: "Al-Iraqiya News was launched during a time of bloodshed when ISIS was fighting all the people of Iraq."

He pointed out that "the sons of the media were at the forefront of the soldiers of liberation, standing in one line with the security forces of all kinds and formations," stressing that "the media made an effort that no one else could make in terms of great sacrifices, as it gave a dose of hope to all Iraqis at a time when Iraq had no hope at all."

Director of Al Iraqiya News Channel, Jaafar Al-Aidi, confirmed to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "Today we celebrate the ninth anniversary of the founding of Al Iraqiya News Channel, and God willing, we will light the tenth candle with more distinction, progress, and success in conveying the truth and following up on events first hand."

He added: "Al-Iraqiya News was and still is the spearhead among the network's platforms. It played a role in the operations to liberate the lands that were desecrated by the terrorist ISIS, in addition to the channel's presence in all national forums of the Iraqi state," indicating, "We aspire to maintain a balanced media discourse that does not side with one party over another."

Director of Political Programs, Sinan Bassem, explained to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the idea of establishing a news system was crystallized by the Iraqi Media Network to be a starting point for all news bulletins concerned with security and political issues, so that Iraqiya News Channel would be the mouthpiece of the Iraqi state with all its institutions, not the government."

He added: "We started with the efforts of those who participated in the mission of establishing this channel. We formed a team of editors, producers, editors-in-chief, news management and correspondents, and we reached an integrated news system that could be the focus of everyone's attention."

He pointed out that "we presented news bulletins that reflect the people's mentality and that we are in contact with the public through our continuous coverage, especially that which was presented during the liberation operations of the Iraqi lands desecrated by terrorism."
