A powerful explosion rocked a container ship docked at the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in east China's Zhejiang Province, one of the world's largest ports, on Friday afternoon, local authorities said.
The explosion occurred at the bow of the YM Mobility container ship, owned by Yang Ming Shipping Company, sending up flames and thick smoke.
A container on the docked ship is believed to have exploded, China Central Television said.
The Zhejiang provincial emergency department said the ship was loaded with Class V hazardous materials, without giving further details.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or injuries from the explosion, and authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
