Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohsen Al-Mandalawi called on the European Union, today, Thursday, to take its active role in stopping the crimes of genocide in the Gaza Strip.
The media office of the Speaker of the Council stated - in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) - that "Acting Speaker of the Council of Representatives Mohsen Al-Mandalawi received at his residence in Baghdad, the Head of the European Union Mission to Iraq Thomas Sailer and his accompanying delegation."
He added, "The two sides discussed the nature of relations between Iraq and the European Union countries and the international community in general within the framework of the new policy of Iraqi diplomacy seeking to build positive relations with everyone."
Al-Mandalawi called according to the statement for "the necessity of activating the partnership agreement between Iraq and the European Union that has entered into force and starting a phase of openness, dialogue and cooperation to combat hate speech and constructive economic cooperation in a way that ensures the protection of common interests."
Al-Mandalawi explained that "the situation in the region is rapidly escalating due to the repeated attacks by the Zionist entity on Lebanon, Iran and Syria and the crimes of genocide it is committing against our people in Gaza, calling for the necessity for the European Union countries to exercise their necessary and effective role in pressuring towards curbing the crimes of the Zionists and working to maintain the stability of the entire region."
