Health Minister Salih Mahdi Al-Hasnawi held a meeting with WHO Representative, Georges Alfred Ki-Zerbo, and Resident Representative for UNDP Iraq office, Auke Lootsma, on Monday to develop the health system in Iraq.
"Al-Hasnawi received Ki-Zerbo and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of several stakeholders in the ministry," according to a statement by the Ministry of Health - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The attendees stressed "the continuation of work to develop and strengthen the health system in Iraq in line with the priorities of the Iraqi government. Also, the ministry's support in developing the primary health care sector and the skills of medical staff, as well as developing solid strategies for health care services. It comes under the ministry's keenness this year to develop this sector and name it the year of primary health care."
During the meeting, they discussed the completion rates of the Oncology Hospital in Mosul, which will be opened this year, and support for the IDPs returning to their original areas.
