Iraqi PM Al-Sudani meets the Supreme Leader of Iran, Sayyed Khamenei

    INA - BAGHDAD

    PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani stressed on Tuesday, during his meeting with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the depth of relations between Iraq and Iran and the importance of proceeding with the concluded agreements between the two, in a way that achieves common interests in all fields.

    Al-Sudani met with Sayyed Khamenei, in Tehran where he arrived earlier today, to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president, said the PM media office in a statement - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    The Prime Minister congratulated Sayyed Khamenei, wishing "continued prosperity for the Islamic Republic of Iran, government and people, on the occasion of its election of a new president, and overcoming the ordeal of the tragic accident that led to the passing of the late President Ibrahim Raisi, the Foreign Minister and their companions."

    "The depth of relations between Iraq and Iran, and the importance of proceeding with the agreements concluded between the two countries, in a way that achieves common interests in all fields," included in the statement.

    In turn, Khamenei appreciated the efforts of the Iraqi government in securing the Arbaeen commemoration of Imam Hussein and his companions (peace be upon them), facilitating the delegation of millions of visitors, and providing their comfort and transportation requirements, considering "this great effort a feature of the generosity of the Iraqi people."

    The meeting witnessed a review of the situation in the region, where the two sides stressed "the need to stop the aggression on Gaza and support efforts aimed at stopping the genocide against the Palestinian people and preventing the expansion of the conflict regionally."
