Al-Sudani reaffirms Iraq's solidarity and support for Iran during these difficult times

    Media Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency INA that Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani, who arrived in Tehran this Wednesday morning with an official Iraqi Government Delegation, met with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sayyid Ali Khamenei, to offer condolences on the passing of President Ebrahim Raisi, the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and their colleagues.

    The statement read "Prime Minister Al-Sudani expressed his sincere condolences to Sayyid Ali Khamenei and the Iranian government and people for this tragic incident. He reaffirmed Iraq's solidarity and support for Iran during these difficult times and highlighted the deep bilateral relations between the two countries. He praised the late President Ebrahim Raisi, noting that his passing is a loss not only for Iran but for the entire region, as he was a figure who worked efficiently and responsibly for peace and cooperation among all regional countries."

    It further said "Prime Minister Al-Sudani commended the late president's legacy, noting his significant contributions to the Iranian people, regional and international peace and stability, and his efforts in strengthening fruitful partnerships with Iraq and other countries in the region."


    On his part, Sayyid Ali Khamenei emphasized according to the statement, the strong relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq, noting Iran's continued cooperation and commitment to bilateral interests. He acknowledged that the passing of President Raisi is a loss of a prominent and dedicated leader. Sayyid Khamenei expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Al-Sudani and to the Iraqi people for their heartfelt condolences and solidarity.
