The province of Najaf declared on Monday that it was prepared to break ground on two new power plants, emphasizing that the two stations' operations depend on clean energy.
"Today the foundation stone will be laid for the 132.1 megawatt combined cycle project, which will be under the auspices of Prime Minister Mohamed Shia al-Sudani. This is a third generating unit in the new Najaf gas power station and will reflect positively on increasing the share of Najaf and another in Haidariyah," said Saif Hamid al-Abedi, director of the gas station media, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA). He added that "the duration of the project will be two years."
"The two stations will contribute to raising the processing hours," he said, adding that "the executing company is the Chinese company Shanghai."
"The heat from the engines or autonomous power, which is clean energy and its investment, or the so-called arranged cycle, powered by thermal energy," stated al-Abdi, "determines the nature of the station's operation."
"The solar energy project with a 1,000 megawatt production capacity, which will be in the Najaf Sea Area, is another project within clean energy," he stated.
