The Ministry of Planning signed a contract today, Tuesday, with the Austrian company TÜV Austria, granting it a license for inspection and verification to issue Certificates of Conformity (COC) in the country of origin for goods exported to Iraq.
According to a statement from the Ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "Hussein Ali Dawood, President of the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, signed the contract on behalf of the Ministry of Planning, while the Austrian company was represented by its authorized manager in Iraq, Firas Moayyad Hassan."
Dawood stated, "The contract grants TÜV Austria the license to issue Certificates of Conformity and conduct inspections in the country of origin for goods exported to Iraq. TÜV Austria is a notable European company operating in several countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, with which there is substantial trade." He added that the company will provide inspection services and issue COCs for imported goods to Iraq, ensuring consumer safety and product integrity.
He further explained that "this partnership represents a significant step towards improving economic and trade relations with Austria, ultimately strengthening bilateral relations." Dawood called on the company to "fulfill its contractual obligations as swiftly as possible to ensure the necessary procedures for maintaining the quality of goods and services."
Austrian Ambassador to Iraq, Andrea Nasi, who attended the signing ceremony, remarked that "this partnership is a unique contribution to Iraq's recovery by ensuring the availability of high-quality goods." He added that "the contract will facilitate the importation process into Iraq and subject goods to pre-shipment inspections, providing support and protection for the Iraqi market."
