Baghdad - INA
The Ministry of Transport announced, today, Friday, the suspension of flights from Iraq to UAE airports due to an electronic glitch except Iraqi Airways, which is continuing its flights.
The ministry's spokesman, Maitham Al-Safi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Flights from Iraq to Dubai Airport have stopped due to the electronic glitch that hit airports in the UAE," noting that "flights have stopped for all airlines except Iraqi Airways.".
He pointed out that "Iraqi airports are fully secured against any breach or electronic glitch," indicating that "the electronic glitch that hit the airports and the navigation system is not used in Iraq, but rather in the United States and another country that uses the same system.".
Al-Safi confirmed that "Iraqi Airways is operating normally and flights to the UAE are continuing because they rely on the Amadeus system, which is a solid and global system," noting that "the suspended flights to the UAE are linked to companies that operate under the CrowdStrike system, while flights affiliated with Iraqi Airways are operating normally.".
He continued, "The return of flights to UAE airports via these companies is dependent on the resumption of work on the electronic server at UAE airports and other airports that operate under the same system.".
