CTS: The Iraqi people, old and young, reacted to the fatwa of sufficient jihad

The head of the Counter-Terrorism Service, Lieutenant General Karim Al-Tamimi, recalled today, Thursday, the fatwa of the Sufficient Jihad by the Supreme Authority, Sayyed Ali Al-Sistani, stressing that the Iraqi people, old and young, interacted with it to defend the land and honor.

Al-Tamimi said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “In days like these, we witness the anniversary of the terrorist ISIS gangs taking control of some Iraqi governorates and their arrival at the doorstep of the capital, Baghdad, and in light of those difficult circumstances that our beloved country went through and the attacks of all the forces of darkness.” Against our people, the fatwa of the supreme authority, Sayyid Ali al-Sistani appeared, calling for a sufficient jihad to defend the land and honor, and our people, old and young, from all parts of the country rose to defend it.

He added, "On this occasion, I am pleased, in my name and in the name of all members of the Counter-Terrorism Service, to extend thanks and gratitude to our rational authority that issued this blessed fatwa, and a greeting of love and loyalty to our righteous martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the sake of our dear country. May God bless them with His vast mercy and a speedy recovery for our wounded, and a pledge from us that we will remain committed to defense for the homeland against any threat .”
