PM: Directives to the ministries to contract with reputable Spanish companies

    INA - BAGHDAD

    PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani confirmed on Tuesday, his response to the invitation of Spanish President Pedro Sanchez to visit his country this year, indicating his directives to the ministries to contract with reputable Spanish companies to contribute to the reconstruction of Iraq.

    During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and prospects for their development in various fields, according to a statement by the PM Media Office - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    Al-Sudani affirmed his acceptance of the invitation extended by Prime Minister Sanchez to visit Spain later this year, highlighting that PM Sanchez's previous visit to Baghdad paved the way for advancing relations between the two countries. 

    He added his directives to the ministries to ensure contracting with reputable Spanish companies to participate in the development and construction projects in Iraq, "the bilateral committees are seen as an opportunity to strengthen the relationship and increase cooperation and understanding between the two nations."

    PM Al-Sudani expressed "Iraq’s gratitude, on behalf of the government and the people, to the Kingdom of Spain for recognizing the State of Palestine, a historic stance that aligns with the aspirations of the Palestinian people for freedom and the establishment of their independent state."

    In turn, PM Sanchez emphasized that relations between Spain and Iraq have seen unprecedented development recently. 

    He thanked the Iraqi government for its confidence in Spanish companies and praised PM Al-Sudani’s support for the bilateral committee meetings between the two countries, reiterating that "Spain's support for Palestine stems from a humanitarian drive and a commitment to legitimacy, stability, and security."
