The Minister of Trade, Atheer Daoud Al-Ghurairi, confirmed on Tuesday, that the Development Road Project will be a vital tributary to Iraq and the region, calling on international companies to benefit from the investment opportunities provided by this project.
Al-Ghurairi headed the Iraqi delegation participating in the third meeting of the Trade Negotiating Committee in the Trade Preferences System (TPS-OIC) for member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held in Istanbul, Turkey, according to a statement by the ministry - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
Al-Ghurairi highlighted, in a speech he delivered during the meeting, “The focus of our meeting is the trade preferences of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Republic of Iraq is one of the member states of the organization,” adding, “We have ratified the framework agreement and are proceeding with the completion of the other stages to move forward with it.”
“The current government headed by PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani has adopted the slogan of the services government and is proceeding with completing the legal and legislative environment to create the necessary laws to suit the current changes that would contribute to integration within the international and regional system," he included.
He pointed out, "Our participation in the ministerial meeting is a message that Iraq is part of this system, and we support all efforts and outcomes that ensure achieving the goal of moving towards economic integration and overcoming all challenges."
The Minister extended an invitation to his counterparts participating in the ministerial meeting "to urge reputable companies in various economic sectors in their countries to take advantage of the investment opportunities available in Iraq, especially those related to the Development Road, which we hope will be a vital tributary to Iraq and the countries of the region," in addition to the call for active participation in the 48th session of the Baghdad Expo, the international conference, which will be held on the first of next November in the capital, Baghdad.
He stressed, “investing in international forums to convey the voice of the Palestinian people, to carry out our duties and responsibilities towards the woes and groans they are suffering, and to harness all international efforts to issue decisions that contribute to deterring the blatant violations committed by the Zionist entity in the Gaza Strip to stop the machine of destruction and opening safe paths to treat the wounded and deliver humanitarian, food and medical aid to restore life.”
