MOT: An agreement with the Ministries of Oil and Electricity to end conflicts on development road projact

    The Ministry of Transport revealed today, Saturday an agreement with the Ministries of Oil and Electricity to end conflicts on the development road projact, while indicating that the project enjoys national support and international interest.

    The Director General of the General Railway Company affiliated with the Ministry, Younis Al-Kaabi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The development road projact is proceeding at a confident pace under the direct supervision and care of the Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Development Road,” noting that “the Supreme Committee discussed in its last meeting another Project developments: The percentage of railway designs exceeded 76%, the highway designs reached approximately 68%, and soil and topographic surveys exceeded 90%.” 

    He added, "Last week witnessed the completion of the signing of a report with the Ministries of Oil and Electricity not to conflict with the development road projact, and it was agreed to end all technical conflicts along the path from the port of Al-Faw to Fishkhabour with the two ministries, and the technical details of feeding the project with electrical current were also agreed upon." .

    He continued, "The committee also held an important technical meeting with the Department of Mine Affairs in the Ministry of Environment, and the places where mines and military projectiles were located were identified, and a plan was drawn up to remove them from the course of the project."

    He stated, “The approval of 10 governorates on the project’s route from Al-Faw port to the borders of the city of Mosul has been completed,” pointing out that “the approval gives a greater impetus for the project to proceed with designs at a faster pace and move to detailed designs and tenders.”

    He pointed out that "the committee has overcome many challenges for companies and there is clear progress in the project," explaining that "Iraq has passed the stage of difficulties in implementing the development path, and the project now enjoys national support and support par excellence, as all governorates will participate in it."

    He stressed that "the project is also receiving international attention, as all countries have a desire to be part, participate or support the project," noting that "large, reputable international companies have expressed their willingness to work on the project, and this gives more reliability that the project is capable of success and implementation." Iraq will choose the best offers.”
