Iraq is making significant progress in the fight against corruption, according to European Union Ambassador Thomas Sayler, who also noted the importance of Iraqi laws in this area on Monday.
Sayler stated, "The European Union is very interested in Iraqi and Arab laws on combating corruption, so we support and help with our experiences with Iraqi expertise," during the high-level regional meeting conference, which was held under the title "Strengthening cooperation for effective national strategies to combat corruption." The Iraqi News Agency (INA) reporter was present.
In addition, he expressed his satisfaction with "the great progress Iraq is making in combating corruption and Iraq's participation in our expertise," adding that "there is Iraqi legislation that has been applied, but we need more laws, in addition to the developments and major events carried out by Iraq."
He stated that "integrity and the judiciary are doing very big work at the level of cases, convictions, European companies and banks;" adding that "Iraq is making great strides in the fight against corruption."
