The Ministry of Health confirmed today, Thursday, the directive of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani to follow up on all requirements for treating the wounded Palestinians, noting their availability after the first batch of injured arrived in the capital, Baghdad, yesterday, Wednesday.
Ministry spokesman Saif Al-Badr told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Private Nursing Home Hospital, one of the hospitals of the Medical City Department, was designated to follow up on the health status of the first batch of our people in Palestine who were injured, as well as those who had chronic diseases and whose treatment was disrupted due to the harsh conditions that passed on Palestine during the last period, which is still ongoing, and based on the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, and with follow-up by the Minister of Health, Saleh Al-Hasnawi, everything we could need has been prepared to receive and treat these cases, which number in the dozens, along with their families.
Al-Badr added, "These cases included young children, the elderly, and the elderly, as well as medical cases, some of which were the result of injuries such as fractures, wounds, etc., and some of them were cancerous cases, kidney failure cases, and chronic diseases among those who were regular in their treatment, but the recent conditions hindered their receiving treatment."
He pointed out, "Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed, with the follow-up of the Minister of Health, to provide everything possible to our people and brothers from Palestine until they fully recover, whether it is therapeutic or rehabilitative care."
He pointed out, "This is the first meal, and the Iraqi government has announced its readiness to receive other meals in any possible number and provide care for them, whether in government sector hospitals or private sector hospitals," stressing, "All requirements are available to this moment by Iraqi institutions."
For his part, the director of the private nursing home hospital in Medical City, Farid Arak Turki, confirmed to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “by order of the Iraqi government and direct follow-up by the Minister of Health, Saleh Al-Hasnawi, the Iraqi medical team was formed to visit the Republic of Egypt in order to treat the sick and wounded from the Palestinians.”
Turki explained, “The medical team visited a large number of hospitals in Egypt, and the medical cases were evaluated, classified, and prepared for transport to Baghdad,” noting, “The process of transporting the medical cases was carried out by private Iraqi planes from Cairo Airport to Baghdad.”
He added, "Ambulances belonging to the Ministry of Health, Special Operations and Emergency Services Department, were prepared in order to transport them from the airport to the hospital, where medical teams were formed from senior doctors, professors, and consultants in the Medical City to follow up on the cases and provide them with special medical and health care, in addition to creating conditions for them." Appropriate accommodation for them in the hospital and provision of medicines and complete medical supplies, in addition to providing them with mobile phones and internet services to help them communicate with their families.”
He continued, "What Iraq is offering is part of the humanitarian, fraternal and moral duty towards what our brothers, the Palestinian people, are going through in their ordeal."
Yesterday, Wednesday, Iraq received at Baghdad International Airport the first batch of wounded Palestinians in Gaza for treatment, accompanied by cases of patients with incurable conditions.
