The entire refining capacity of the northern refineries was revealed on Wednesday by the North Refineries Company, which is connected to the Ministry of Oil. The company also highlighted the refineries' ongoing development and advancement to the status of multinational corporations.
"The Salah al-Din 1 and Salah al-Din 2 refineries will have a capacity of 70,000 barrels per day and 70,000 barrels per day, respectively, while the North Refinery will have a capacity of 150,000 barrels per day and the North Refinery with a capacity of 20,000 barrels per day, and the refinery will be Salahuddin 3 with a capacity of 70,000 barrels per day," said Atta Aliwi Hussein Al-Hamdani, the director of the company's project management department.
With regard to the company's external refineries, he went on, "The Project Management Department, working with the North Refineries Company's General Manager, is carrying out the company's plan to increase refining capacities during the current and upcoming years." He noted that "the combined refining capacity of the current and added North Refineries Company will be 584 thousand barrels per day, which is an unprecedented refining capacity in the refining sector."
"We seek to implement all plans and programs for raising refining capacities and modernizing and developing the company's refineries and upgrading them to the ranks of major international companies in the refinery sector in Iraq and the Middle East," he said, pointing out that "the North Refineries Company also began preparing the requirements for the establishment of the FCC unit, a unit consisting of four basic units to maximize the production of improved gasoline."
