The Iraqi embassy in Washington said that it was following up carefully and with concern the current events at American universities, including the pro-Palestinian protests.

The embassy confirmed in a statement on social media platform X, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Iraqi government has repeatedly warned of the dangerous repercussions of the ongoing war in Gaza, during which civilians, including children, women, and the elderly ,have been being exposed to unacceptable bombing that violates all humanitarian norms and international laws.”

The embassy went on “These events should stir the consciences of free people around the world to defend freedom and justice.”

"In this context, the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington is following with care and concern the current events in American universities, including the pro-Palestinian protests and the arrest of students, professors and faculty members," the embassy said, calling for "restraint, calm, respect for human rights and peaceful expression."
