The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced, today, Thursday, that eight Iraqi universities have achieved competitive positions in the Times classification of Asian universities.
The ministry said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "eight Iraqi universities achieved important competitive positions in the Times classification of Asian universities for the year 2023, and the official results included, by clicking on the link here, an evaluation of six hundred and sixty-nine universities from thirty-one countries, including Iraq, where it came The University of Babylon ranked 199, then the University of Technology ranked 251-300, followed by the University of Anbar at 301-350, the universities of Baghdad, Mosul and Al-Mustansiriya ranked 501-600, and Basra and Kufa 601 + Asia.
The statement added, "The Times classification of Asian universities evaluates universities according to 5 basic criteria: education 25%, scientific research 30%, citations 30%, international outlook 7.5%, knowledge transfer 7.5%.".
He continued, "Iraqi universities and colleges are recording their escalating competition in international rankings, including the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, in which the University of Baghdad appeared in the chemical engineering major, the (The Times) ranking, in which eight universities are located, and the (QS) ranking, in which five universities are located. Universities and the (Greenmetric) classification, in which seventy-three Iraqi universities and colleges entered, and the URA classification, in which four Iraqi universities are located, in addition to the (Webometrics) classification, which recorded the attendance and competition of more than one hundred Iraqi universities and colleges.
