Under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the American University and the Gulf International Foundation signed an agreement to hold a scientific conference next October to build partnerships between Iraqi public and private universities and international universities.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Haider Abd Dhahad, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We are about to hold a conference, the first of its kind in the history of higher education in Iraq, to internationalize higher education and build partnerships between Iraqi and international universities, and 50 of the best universities will be hosted." International, with scientific partnerships and cultural and scientific exchange with Iraqi universities that will be ready to receive universities in addition to scholarships from international universities for Iraqi students, and in return scholarships from Iraqi universities for foreign students.
Abd Dhahad added, "This is a qualitative event in the history of higher education, and we thank the American University for providing logistical support to the conference. The conference will be an unprecedented event, and we hope that the internationalization of higher education in Iraq will contribute,".
In turn, the Executive Director of the Gulf Foundation, Abdul Rahman Muhammad, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The conference is the first of its kind in Iraq, and it is a country of knowledge, and the right place for these activities during the coming months, and work will be continuous to accomplish the largest exhibition to build partnerships with Public and private universities and international universities.
Muhammad added, "These partnerships will contribute to raising the classification of Iraqi universities globally and provide an opportunity for students from countries in the region, Africa and Asia to study in Iraq." Higher education has clearly sought to attract discerning international universities.
In turn, the President of the American University in Baghdad, Michael William Mulnix, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The conference is very important for Iraq, and there will be 50 international universities and 40 local universities, and they will hold a partnership at the American University's headquarters.".
Molinix added, "The benefit is long-term, because the university will remain on the global map, and we are waiting for the best international universities to be present at the American University in Baghdad."
