The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency ( FIIA ) announced ,on Wednesday , the arrest of a girls trafficking gang in Baghdad.
A statement by the Intelligence Agency, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said "The detachments of the Intelligence Agency/ Directorate for Combating Organized Crime specialized in combating human trafficking, arrested a gang of (6) accused, after monitoring information that there is a gang for trafficking and exploitation of girls for immoral purposes in Baghdad”.
The statement added that " this came after the formation of an Intelligence Task Force and field follow-up, and after confirming the authenticity of the information, the fundamentalist judicial approvals were obtained and all those accused of the crime were arrested", noting that "the defendants were caught in possession of girls being exploited for immoral purposes for material gain”.
The statement stressed that "their statements were recorded by confession and they were referred to the competent authorities to receive fair punishment ".
