Water Resources Minister announces the most important files to be discussed with the Turkish President

    The Minister of Water Resources, Aun Thiyab, announced, on Sunday, the most important files to be discussed with the Turkish President in Baghdad, and pointed to the need to give Iraq a fair share of water for the Tigris and Euphrates, and stressed the work to end the water file.

    Thiyab said to the Iraqi News Agency (INA ) that  “there are many files with neighboring Turkey that will be discussed with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who will visit Iraq tomorrow, Monday", indicating that "among these files, economic, security, trade and water".

    He added that" our requirements and what will be discuses with the Turkish President in this file have been prepared ",noting that" we are relying on this visit a lot, which will have positive results serving Iraq and Turkey”.

    He said that " Turkey's interests in Iraq are very large, as that it will bring specific interests to neighboring Turkey, and we also have interests that interest us, most notably the issue of water ",pointing out that "we are seeking, according to proven agreements, a fair and equitable share of water for the Tigris and Euphrates”.

    He pointed out that" the technicians are responsible and will talk in this regard to reach specific figures in this direction ",stressing the need for" fair quantity to reach the Iraqi-Turkish border, whether through the Tigris or through the Euphrates in the area of Hassiba in cooperation with Syria and we have coordination with that”.

    Thiyab stressed the need to "finish the water file so that we establish the development of relations with Turkey and all our neighbors".
