An Iranian press delegation headed by Undersecretary of the Iranian Ministry of Culture, Farshad Mahdi Pour, visited Baghdad today, Friday, and met with a number of heads of Iraqi agencies and newspapers, while the two sides discussed cooperation in the media field.
Director of the Media Regulation Department at the Media and Communications Commission, Jader Al-Jader, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that “The Iranian delegation came to Iraq headed by the Iranian Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, and accompanied by a group of Iranian journalists, and we invited them to Iraq to meet with their Iraqi media counterparts, editors-in-chief agencies and newspapers.
He added, "There is a great development in relations between the two countries in all fields, and there is also a noticeable development at the media level. It is necessary for there to be an exchange of experiences, visits, and news cooperation, in addition to coordination in supporting Islamic issues, especially the Palestinian issue, and exposing the Zionist entity for its crimes."
Al-Jader continued, "The head of the Communications and Media Commission spoke with the Iranian delegation about the necessity of cooperation between the two countries in the field of exchanging experiences and news, through memorandums binding the two countries and regulating the media sector in a way that serves the interests of Iraq and Iran."
For his part, Undersecretary of the Iranian Ministry of Culture for Media and Communications Affairs, Farshad Mahdi Pour, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The relationship between the Iraqi and Iranian peoples is close, and these meetings with journalistic and cultural elites support the strengthening of this relationship.”
He added, "We are here for joint cooperation with various Iraqi media outlets, and we will continue our meetings to enhance joint cooperation."
He stressed that "Iran has 14,000 media outlets, including agencies and newspapers, including 3,000 international and local newspapers, in addition to 2,000 news websites, 2,000 general journal, and 2,000 private magazines."
