President Barham Salih arrived in Kuwait Sunday morning in a visit that is aimed to strengthen cooperation between the two brotherly countries. A statement by the Presidential information office, a copy of which was received by INA, said that the visit came in answer to the invitation extended by Sheikh Sabah Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait, within the context of strengthening relationships and cooperation between the two brotherly countries in addition to discussing the issues of common interest to both Iraq and Kuwait. The statement went on to explain that the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly, Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim, as well as a number of Ministers and state Sheikhs, headed the reception party. Reception ceremonies, the statement adds, were held in the Emeri Airport where the national anthems of both countries were played. The Iraqi delegation included also the foreign minister and the minister of industry as well as the head of the intelligence service and the Basra governor in addition to a number of consultants and experts.
