Al-Sudani Chairs the Second Session of the Higher Commission for Coordination between Governorates Not Incorporated into a Region

    Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani chaired today Thursday the second session of the Higher Commission for Coordination between Governorates Not Incorporated into a Region on Thursday, attended by the newly appointed governors and heads of provincial councils.

    Prime Minister Al-Sudani highlighted the formation of provincial councils as a reinforcement of the administrative decentralization advocated by the constitution and political forces, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and earning the citizens' trust. He stated that local governments should adopt programs based on needs and aligned with the government's program, as they are integral to the state's executive authority.

    The Prime Minister affirmed that the government has made significant strides in implementing its program through ministries and provinces, stressing that the evaluation of administrative unit heads and department directors should be based on performance rather than political quotas to avoid sending a negative message to citizens. Local governments were also urged to maintain communication with all community segments in their provinces, focusing on services as they are of utmost concern to citizens.

    Prime Minister Al-Sudani noted that the Higher Commission for Coordination between Governorates Not Incorporated into a Region is a legally established body tasked with addressing obstacles and developing mechanisms for managing shared competencies. He announced the initiation of the 2024 budget preparation, which will include additional financial allocations for provinces to be used for infrastructure.

    Prime Minister Al-Sudani expressed the government's commitment to supporting local government success, despite those who oppose the country's stability. He emphasized that proper management of public funds would yield positive outcomes necessitating a vision that considers future years and meets obligations.
