Rashid: Iraq is eager for Azerbaijani businesses to join the domestic scene

    The desire of Iraq to introduce Azerbaijani businesses to the local market was expressed by President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid on Monday.

    The Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and his accompanying delegation were received by President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, according to a statement from the Media Department of the Presidency of the Republic that the Iraqi News Agency (INA) obtained.

    "The importance of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the need to work to develop and strengthen them in a way that achieves the common interests of all," stated the President of the Republic.  

    He emphasized that "Iraq is looking forward to Azerbaijani companies entering the local market and enhancing investment cooperation opportunities, especially after the President of the Republic visited Azerbaijan last November and signed numerous memoranda of understanding between the two countries, which constitute an important breakthrough to make a connection of cooperation to build air transport, tourism, cultural, and economic fields in a way that guarantees the interests of the two peoples."  

    Minister Mikail Jabbarov, for his part, praised "the successful visit of the President of the Republic to Azerbaijan recently and its importance in strengthening bilateral relations" and stated that it was a "pleasure to visit Iraq." 

     The "desire of his country to establish the best relations with Iraq in various fields" was emphasized by him.
