The Council of Foreign Ministers of member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation issues a decision to support Palestine

    The Organization of Islamic Cooperation statement said today, Wednesday, that “the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held in its extraordinary session to discuss the continuing Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah, at the request of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Palestine, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a resolution to support Palestine.”
    The Council affirmed “The principles and objectives of the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as all the decisions issued by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation regarding the issue of Palestine and the City of Al-Quds Al-Sharif, the most recent of which is the extraordinary joint Arab and Islamic summit to discuss the Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people, which was held in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on November 11, 2023.”
    The Council reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the entire Islamic nation and supported the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, most notably their right to self-determination and the return of Palestinian refugees, and their right to independence and the embodiment of the independent and sovereign State of Palestine along the lines of June 4, 1967, with its capital, Al-Quds Al-Sharif. As well as his legitimate right to self-defense to confront the Zionist aggression that targets its life, sanctities, and its property.”
    The statement “called on member states to send humanitarian aid to the entire Gaza Strip, in cooperation and coordination with international organizations, especially with the approaching month of Ramadan, in implementation of the temporary measures ordered by the International Court of Justice in its decision dated January 26, 2024, as well as to take immediate measures by calling on the international community to put pressure on the Zionist entity must work to bring all unconditional and unlimited humanitarian aid and needs into Gaza Strip immediately and sustainably, and participate in supporting these movements by all countries.
    The resolution also included a call on the member states of the organization, urgently, to do everything necessary at all levels to stop the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people, confront them, and hold their perpetrators accountable, and to provide all forms of financial support and humanitarian relief to break the siege imposed on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip for more than 16 years.
