The Union of Arab Universities held today, Sunday, a meeting in its bureau in Baghdad.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that “The Executive Office of the union of Arab Universities held its first meeting at the University of Baghdad to discuss a number of topics on the agenda in preparation for the launch of the Union’s General Conference in conjunction with the sixtieth anniversary of its founding.”
The Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Universities, Amr Ezzat Salama, confirmed, according to the statement, that “Iraq is one of the founding member states of the Union of Universities, and that the presence of the presidents of Arab universities to participate in the activities of the general conference, which is hosted by the capital, Baghdad, for the first time, pushes towards greater integration between Arab educational institutions.”
According to the statement "The head of the University of Baghdad, Bahaa Ibrahim Ensaf, welcomed hosting the Union's Executive Office and the work of the General Conference, which will provide a positive ambiance for mutual support and scientific and academic cooperation between Iraqi universities and their Arab counterparts."
