Acknowledging the teacher as "the messenger of knowledge, who carries educational values," Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani on Thursday expressed his congratulations to the educational staff and mentioned the construction of over 450 new school buildings in a record time.
In a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Prime Minister's Media Office stated that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani attended today the central celebration held by the Iraqi Teachers' Syndicate on the occasion of Teacher's Day."
During the event, the prime minister gave a speech in which he expressed his gratitude for the noble profession of teaching and expressed pride in the high status of Iraqi teachers. He also offered “congratulations to the teachers of Iraq from north to south."
Al-Sudani noted that "since the early days of the government's work, the file of schools has been raised, and work has been done to end the problems faced by the process from paying attention to the conditions of teachers." He also emphasized "the great attention paid by the government to the file of education, and the necessity of the educational institution in the overall service and social requirements."
"We are still continuing the 1,000 schools project, whose results will be better and faster," he said, adding that "the lagging projects have been moved and more than 450 new school buildings have been constructed, renovated, and expanded within a record period."
Noting that "building a human being begins from the early stages of life, and it is important to promote the psychological and moral health of our sons, so that they are worthy of Iraq's present and future," he emphasized "the need to focus on instilling the moral values and principles carried by our people."
He emphasized that "the protection and rehabilitation of young people starts from the school and the student-teacher relationship" and said, "We will find that the end of the thread brings us to the education sector in all corners of reform, fighting corruption, creating opportunities, and economic development."
