US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed on Sunday that tariffs will remain in effect for days or weeks.
Lutnick said in statements monitored by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The tariffs will remain in effect for days or weeks," indicating that "the tariffs represent a national security issue, and the United States must begin protecting itself."
He explained that "his country is suffering from a $1.2 trillion trade deficit while the rest of the world is taking American money."
He emphasized that "the era of exploiting the United States is over, and all companies will come to invest in the United States."
