PM confirms the government's keenness to develop relations with Italy

    Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani affirmed, today, Saturday, the government’s keenness to develop relations with Italy.

    The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Prime Minister received the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tayani in Munich.".

    He added, "The meeting discussed the overall bilateral relations and ways to develop them in various fields, in a way that serves the common interests of the two friendly countries.".

    Al-Sudani stressed according to the statement “the government’s keenness to develop relations with Italy, in accordance with the visions formulated during the previous visit of the Italian Prime Minister to Iraq,” warning of “the government’s efforts to find strategic partnerships with European Union countries.”.

    The Prime Minister referred to, “the ongoing talks with the United States regarding the issue of the international coalition, which the government is working to end its presence in Iraq, and to shift towards bilateral relations with its member states,” calling for “the necessity of all European countries to move to end the war in Gaza, and to stop its repercussions on the security of the region and the world.”.

    For his part, Tayani expressed “his country’s desire and keenness to develop relations with Iraq, and to advance and strengthen them in all fields, in a way that achieves the comprehensive benefit of the two countries.”.
