Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shimmari discussed on Tuesday, with the Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, enhancing the security of joint borders.
"Al-Shimmari received the Turkish Minister of Defense Yaşar Güler and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of a number of leaders and officers," according to a statement by the Ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of developing them as well as enhancing the security of the joint borders.
Al -Shimmari expressed his hope that "there will be many understandings between the two neighboring countries to serve common interests and strengthen the bonds of cooperation in the security fields."
In turn, the Turkish Minister of Defense praised, "the great efforts made by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior to combat drugs and organized crime as well as enhance security and stability in various regions of Iraq."
