The General Directorate of Traffic-GDT announced on Friday, the imminent start of a plan to avoid accidents on external roads.
“There is a plan that includes building seven traffic sections from the city of Umm Qasr in Basra to Trebil area in Anbar, as well as on Mosul highway,” GDT director Major General Muhammad Al-Tamimi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Al-Tamimi said “there will be 50 kilometers between one section and another containing three cars in addition to a number of security officers, Traffic police, a fire truck, and an ambulance to treat the wounded and transport them to hospitals.”
“These sections will also contain speed-measuring radars that cover the streets and secure them completely,” he added.
“The speed radars were completed in record time, and will be used for the first time in Iraq as they will be connected to the main server, and will have a special platform in The General Directorate of Traffic," Maj. Gen. Al-Tamimi continued.
