The Prime Minister's Advisor for Tourism Affairs, Omar Al-Alawi, confirmed today, Wednesday, that the government is heading towards addressing the problems of infrastructure and structures of tourism departments, while pointing out that choosing Baghdad as the capital of Arab tourism is a starting point for sustainable future work.
Al-Alawi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Prime Minister is personally following up and interested in the development and renaissance of the tourism reality," noting that "there is a trend to address the problems existing in the infrastructure and structures of tourism departments, and this step is important for launching a national policy that revitalizes the Iraqi tourism reality."
He added, "The responsibility lies with everyone, from the government, the private sector and those interested in tourism, and that Baghdad be the capital of Arab tourism, a launch pad for sustainable future work."
He continued, "The government is working on preparing important programs by hosting a large number of international, regional and local conferences and workshops, to provide opportunities for investment in the tourism sector."
